Malé

Malé is the capital and most populous city of the Maldives, located at the southern edge of North Malé Atoll (Kaafu Atoll). With a population of over 211,000 within an area of just 1.95 square kilometers, it is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. The city was traditionally the King's Island, from where ancient royal dynasties ruled. Malé features narrow bustling streets, colorful houses, the iconic Grand Friday Mosque, vibrant fish markets, and a strong communal atmosphere. It serves as the primary gateway to the rest of the Maldives, with Velana International Airport on nearby Hulhulé Island.
