These terms govern your use of Jifuti at jifuti.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or making a booking, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy and Cancellation & Refund Policy.

1. Who we are

Jifuti is a platform for planning and booking stays on the local (inhabited) islands of the Maldives. We connect travellers with independent, locally-run guesthouses. Jifuti is operated from the Republic of Maldives.

2. What Jifuti does — and doesn't

Jifuti is a booking platform, not the accommodation provider. Each stay is provided by the guesthouse you book, and the contract for your accommodation is between you and that guesthouse. We facilitate discovery, booking, payment and communication, and we help resolve issues — but the guesthouse is responsible for the stay itself, including the rooms, facilities, and on-the-ground service.

3. Your account

You must be at least 18 to make a booking. Keep your account details accurate and your sign-in secure — you're responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time from your account page; some records (such as past bookings) may be retained where we're required to keep them.

4. Bookings

When you book, you ask the guesthouse to reserve the room(s) for your dates. Prices, availability and any house rules shown at checkout apply to your booking. You agree to provide accurate guest details and to respect the guesthouse's rules and local customs during your stay.

A booking is confirmed when payment is received (for card bookings, instantly on payment; for pay-at-guesthouse bookings, when the guesthouse confirms). We'll email you at each step.

5. Prices and payment

There are two ways to pay, shown to you at checkout:

• Pay by card on Jifuti. We collect your payment securely (card processing is handled by our payment provider, Bank of Maldives — your full card details never reach Jifuti), confirm your booking, and pass the guesthouse their share. Prices are charged in US dollars (USD).
• Pay the guesthouse directly. You arrange payment with the guesthouse (before arrival or on arrival, where offered). Jifuti doesn't handle the money for these bookings.

The price you see is the price you pay — we don't add booking fees to the guest. The amount shown is for your accommodation; extras you buy directly from the guesthouse or others are separate.

6. Cancellations and refunds

Cancellations and refunds for card bookings are governed by our Cancellation & Refund Policy — in short, free cancellation up to 14 days before check-in (minus a non-refundable 3% card-processing fee), and non-refundable within that window. For bookings paid to the guesthouse directly, any refund is arranged with the guesthouse.

7. Reviews and content you submit

Reviews may be left by guests with a completed booking and are published after moderation. By posting a review, message, or other content, you confirm it's your own, truthful, and lawful, and you grant Jifuti a licence to display it on the Service. We may remove content that is abusive, misleading, or breaks these terms.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful;
• make fake or speculative bookings, or abuse the booking system;
• scrape, copy, or resell our content or data without permission;
• attempt to disrupt, probe, or gain unauthorised access to the Service.

9. Guesthouses and partners

Guesthouses that list with us do so under a separate partner agreement. They're responsible for the accuracy of their listing, their availability and pricing, and for honouring confirmed bookings.

10. Intellectual property

The Jifuti name, brand, site design, and editorial content are ours (or our licensors') and may not be used without permission. You keep ownership of content you submit, subject to the licence above.

11. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is". We work hard to keep listings accurate and the platform reliable, but we don't guarantee that every detail is error-free or that the Service will always be available. As Jifuti is not the accommodation provider, we aren't responsible for the conduct of guesthouses or guests, or for the quality of a stay — though we'll help where we can.

To the extent permitted by law, Jifuti is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability relating to a booking is limited to the amount you paid Jifuti for it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

12. Changes, law, and contact

We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above shows when. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Maldives.
