- What's a “local island”?
- An inhabited island where Maldivians actually live — with guesthouses, shops, and a community — as opposed to a private resort island. Same ocean, a fraction of the price, and you get to meet the country.
- How much does it cost?
- Guesthouses start around $40 a night. Every price on the site is a real nightly rate, shown in US dollars.
- How does booking work?
- You request a booking and your room is held while the guesthouse confirms. Jifuti never takes payment — you pay the guesthouse directly, in advance or on arrival where they offer it.
- Can I cancel?
- Yes — cancel from your account anytime. Each guesthouse sets its own cancellation terms, shown on its page before you book. Because Jifuti holds no money, any refund is arranged directly with the guesthouse.
- Anything to know before I go?
- Local islands are Maldivian communities. Most don't sell alcohol, and modest dress is appreciated in the village — the swimming beaches (“bikini beaches”) are set apart for exactly that reason. It's an honest trade for a real, local stay.
