Huraa is a traditional fishing island located in North Malé Atoll, approximately 35 minutes by speedboat from Malé. The island is well known in Maldivian history and features a significant mangrove ecosystem covering approximately 9 hectares, home to diverse crab populations and birdlife. Huraa offers visitors the chance to mingle with locals and experience traditional Maldivian culture, including local cuisine and craftsmanship. The island has a popular bikini beach where tourists can enjoy swimming and sunbathing, and is a base for diving with manta rays, turtles, and exploring turquoise coral reefs. Dolphin spotting tours are also popular. Despite its small size (approximately 850 x 300 meters), Huraa provides an intimate and authentic island experience with easy access from the capital.
