Hoandeddhoo is a northern island in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll with a traditional fishing community and independent island council.
Hoandeddhoo (also spelled Hoadedhdhoo) is one of the inhabited islands of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, located approximately 416 km south of Malé. The island has an independent council responsible for managing the needs of the community. Hoandeddhoo features a school established in 1967 (originally named Irushadhiya School, renamed in 2004), a health center, and local shops. The island's residents are primarily engaged in fishing and small-scale maritime activities. The surrounding waters offer excellent fishing opportunities and healthy coral reefs. Visitors can experience authentic southern Maldivian culture, enjoy fresh seafood, and explore the island's beaches and lagoon. Hoandeddhoo's northern location provides access to rich fishing grounds and pristine marine environments.
